So decided to purchase a 60 gallon breeder today. Loved the dimensions of the tank and couldn’t pass on it. I currently have a 37 gallon tank set up still at my parents house going on 20+ years now. I’ve moved out 10 years ago and finally have convinced the wife to do a tank at home. Guess it took having kids and having them interested and loving the tank at grand parents for her to agree to it lol. So a run down on what I’m thinking so far….I know a lot has change in this hobby over 20 plus years so some help and opinions would be much appreciated. I’m planning on just buying/building one step at a time.

Current ideas/plan:
-60 gallon breeder display
-60 gallon breeder sump/cheato refugium
-40 gallon breeder various micro algae refugium

Lighting was thinking of running 2- Kessil A160WE on the display. Maybe overkill? Plans are for a mixed reef but these tanks are shallow. Kessil’s output are adjustable so that’s a plus. Also if I ever decide on upsizing tanks in the future could probably still use them.

First purchase will be overflow/returns and getting the tank drilled.
-Eshopps prodigy L low profile 900gph
-modular marine isn’t taking orders right now?

Any other overflow kit out there that you all like or would suggest?

Will work on building a stand in the mean time.

Are you planning for a 60-gallon build or three tanks of varying sizes?
60 gallon build with matching sump and an extra 40 gallon refugium. Maybe add frag tank or something extra in the future and integrate it into same filtration. Sump & refugium will be in basement so plenty of room.

Peninsula style will be cool! I need to start a build thread. Haven’t gotten much done as I have to complete the hubby to do list “aka finish master bath remodel . Currently doing some aquascape. Hopefully you’ll have an easier time! The limited height makes it a challenge I feel like. Here’s what I’ve done so far…
