Update: Came home today and there is literally no sign of dinos at all, even though I had a full light cycle.

I’m going to continue on dosing Dino X.

I’m very pleased :)

Update: Nitrates are now 20 ppm. This is the highest the tank has ever shown.

I suspect related to the Dino X. The more I dose Dino X, the more the nitrates rise.

I wonder if it’s something related to the ingredients or if it’s damaging my cycle.

Odd thing is, corals look fantastic and my Zoas are spreading like wild fire.

Update: I hit the dinos with a new course of Dino X.

With each additional dose, I feel different. Emptier.

Perhaps that’s the true causalty of fighting Dinoflagellates.

I press on...

Update: With the Dino’s now visible gone, I am debating as to when I should pull out the medicine via carbon and begin water changes.

My plan is to now kill all the lights for 4 days and cycle through two more doses, for a total of 5.

I’ll then engage in running carbon through the NYOS Torq reactor for 24 hours and do a massive 50% water change immediately after.

Hopefully the plan works.

Update: Tank remains free of dinoflagellates. Tomorrow I will do another dose, as the instructions ready typically 10 doses and I’m only on 4. I’m going to dose again on Friday and then run the carbon reactor on Saturday, followed by a water change on Monday.

I’m debating if I do a blackout during these final days, but I’m thinking I don’t want to target the good algae.

Update: Full, complete light cycle again today and not one Dino.

I ran an extra dose tonight as a precaution.

I have also installed the NYOS TORQ dual reactor and have begun cycling in it in preparation for removing the chemicals.

Also, I have turned back on the DOS and will now be raising alkalinity.

Tomorrow, I’ll begin to increase the intensity of the light by 10%.

Update: Two days later and lights ramped up to 75% for full photoperiod, still no dinos.

Adding another dose tonight.

Update: I am declaring the battle won. It was a full 7 days from identification to erradication.

I am now running in a fluidized reactor carbon to remove the medicine.

I am also running a special media that I contribute my success too.

This will be my last update for now.

Best of luck and I hoped I helped someone else out there.
