Did everything survive ok while you were gone?

Yeah, it all looks well actually. There is a quite a bit of algae in the tank right now, which doesn’t surprise me. But the corals and fish look happy!
I haven’t actually touched it yet except to feed since I got back Friday night. I’m on my way back from the LFS, right now so I’ll take some before and after shots when I do maintenance today.
Lots of algae though, so brace yourself!

That's all part of the game! Glad everything is doing well

Okie dokie. Did my water change and basic maintenance like skimmer, glass cleaning and swapping filter pads.
Later this week we will finish it off by doing an overnight vinegar bath for the pumps and swapping the carbon.

This is how bad she looked before I got to business today.

And here is how bad it still looks after.
I’ve actually got quite a bit of detritus hiding in a couple spots so I’ll address that when I pull the pumps, likely with a mini water change.

One thing I would like to point out is this little pink acro. It seems to like the system.
Here is a picture of it from 4/30 (it was under bluer lighting in that picture)

And here are 2 pictures of it from today after the water change.

Nice! Good to see some growth on that acro! Tank is looking much cleaner after that maintenance day.

What's your next plan for fish/coral additions?

Thanks. It really needed it.

As far as fish, I’m still trying to decide. I’m starting to really like the look of the tank without my clowns in it. I’m considering keeping them in the 20g indefinitely which would give me more variety of choice for another fish in the 75. You and I were discussing wrasses earlier and so I’ve been studying up. While they are beautiful, I’m already feeling irritated by them, haha. I’m also definitely not a lid guy so that pretty much sums up the wrasse option.
Blennies and gobies are also favorites of mine. So that’s a route I might take.

For corals I would like to find a couple more montipora to place on the left side rocks. I’d also like to get something like a purple stylophora to compliment the green one.
I don’t have a big plan for how it’s going to look yet, but I have ideas for some of the areas. :)
What would you do with it? Any fish you think would just fit?

I Used to have a tailspot as well, he was a very fun fish. I’ve found in general that most blennies have immense amounts of character.
A Midas blenny is also definitely on the list for consideration. My girlfriend is fascinated with anything that is slightly poisonous.

I’d really like to put some euphyllia in here, but I don’t think there are any good spots for one, and I don’t want to turn down the flow, or rearrange pumps.

Torches can handle a pretty good amount of flow. But yea I had a similar problem in my old tank. Once I got the flow where my sps liked it the hammers and frogspawns stayed peeved

Rufus and I went out for a drive into the Mt. baker-Snoqualmie national forest earlier. We were checking out the campground where my girlfriend and I are going camping for our 5 year anniversary.

Don’t worry, she doesn’t look at this, I’m safe. ;)
When we got home this was what I saw first. It made my heart jump for the umpteenth time today.

It may seem sappy, but I’m very grateful for what I have. :)

I hope you all are as happy as I am right now.
Happy reefing!

Haha i'm sure it will! Gorgeous dog! I have a German Shorthaired Pointer myself!

I love pointers!

Our second service animal and my first personal training challenge was a GSP.
She was an awesome dog. We got her when she was 5 from the pound. She had the biggest most obnoxiously placed liver spots. I loved the snot out of that dog.

Got any pictures of your puppy? I’m a real sucker for dogs.

Time to start dosing something. My alkalinity has dropped to 6.7
It had been riding between 7.5 and 8.5 between water changes. But I just did a water change on Saturday after I realized it was down to 7.0.
It’s awesome because it just means the corals are growing but, it’s also annoying because I should have set something up sooner instead of waiting for an inopportune time to be forced to address it, as I have done to my self now.;Facepalm

I like easy, and I like cheap so I’m going to put together a kalk dripper out of a half gallon mason gar with a plastic thread on lid and then just stick it behind the tank on the shelf like so.
D0CE5A05-9784-4B87-BB33-758847A9BBD1.jpeg

I’m very happy I set up this space back here, because otherwise I’d have to find a space for a dosing pump, or run the kalk through my ATO pump, neither of which appealed to me.
I can’t imagine what I’d do with a whole fish room.

If I’m lucky I’ll get the powder and fittings before I leave on Friday.;Bored
