My Forest Fire Digi seems to be on the up and up and my Emerald City tips have recovered too; however.. bad news else where.

My SC Orange Passion frag has started to STN from the tip and the base. This happened over night. Still has its color and polyp extension but a bare white tip and a small amount of recession around the base. Also, the tips I cut off of my Joe The Coral frag in my display and it also started to STN from the tip again. My Joe The Coral large frag in my frag system (same water, different tank/light/flow) is doing fine still.

I pulled the OP and JTC and gave each a 5 min iodide dip in case of bacterial infection and moved them both to the sand as I think it may be light related. I probably just killed my OP by doing so and will be extremely upset with myself if so.. fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear it. I've had frags die too but I'm too annoyed to tell anyone about it most of the time. Just recently lost a Bellicose Trobairitz. Everything else is doing great. Weird.

I'm with you. Sometimes they just dont adapt to our individual systems. I feel like I am missing something. Maybe I just need to go on vacation and all will be good without me hovering!

I did find the MP10 in my sump has a rusted shaft. Ordered a new wet side.

So good news...

I dialed my LEDs down and it has had no negative impact and probably a positive impact on coral health. Below is the setting I landed on:

I also added two 48" T5 bulbs to the very front of the top rim angles in toward the corals to help with potential shading. The forest fire digi has recovered polyps on most of the front area that went bare. These only rub for two hours in the middle of the day.

I also removed the MP10 wet side that had rust colored leakage from the shaft. I ordered a new one and was disappointed to find the exact same design unchanged. Not surprised I guess. I'll check this from month to month.

One or all of these items have significantly assisted the coral growth and stopped any sign of tip recession or stn from the bases.
