Yesterday I started a thread about the zoa market and how it's impossible to figure out the next great zoa everyone will want. Long story short I came up with an idea about making a underwater bonsai tree or in this case zoa designs.

Imagine varieties like Stratosphere, Armor of God, and Eye of Sauron bringing different colors and patterns to the same design!

The first step would be offering the engraved tiles for hobbyists to grow their own corals. Down the road, I'd love to explore growing out complete living maze gardens, too.

This is still a concept, and I'm trying to find out whether there's genuine interest before investing in materials and equipment.

Would this be interesting? What maze designs or zoa color combinations would you like to see?

I'd love to hear your thoughts! 🪸

What would keep the pattern? Or will the tile be so deeply depressed with the pattern, you’ll still see the pattern if the coral grows all over it? And the coral might reach more or less for light and flow? Or am I misunderstanding the intention? Hoping to help sort out kinks 😁

I'm planning to use a dremel to etch the pattern into the tile. There would have to be some maintenance to remove the unwanted zoas from the pattern.

I think eventually I will get a 3D printer to create a plastic mold and then pour ceramic material into it and create the pattern that way.

Nothing is concrete. This just a thought.

utter chaos and white zombies always add super nice patterns to any zoa garden IMO
