A Pocillopora bailout event, finally!

When I started reefing 30 years ago I thought getting pocillapora to reproduce without fragging was a cool event to be sought out. And it finally happened in my tank.

I noticed a little green smear on my return nozzle a few months ago. It’s growing slowly.

That's cool. I've got a few little unexpected growths like that too apart from the colonies. Strange they are at the top like yours also on plastic parts.

I've never heard of someone being excited to hear about pocilopora bailout.

Most consider it a weed at that point as they just pop up EVERYWHERE. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Most of my rock/substrate is overgrown and shaded by coral. So the nozzle is probably the best it could find.

Yup, that’s what the going sentiment is. However, I’ve always had pocillapora in my reefs and never had this happen. I wonder how common a bailout event is and how frequently it becomes a nuisance problem. It’s a shame because Pocillopora can be beautiful and add variety and be easy to keep.

Hey, it's cool to like what you like, and if you like something that is easy, even better!

I think it's a lot of fun pushing yourself to grow harder and harder corals, but if you want a montipora and pocilopora dominated SPS tank, then that's awesome too. I see huge monti cap colonies and in my opinion they're gorgeous. Doesn't matter that they're easy.
