Decided today to change all of my dosing lines for colour coded RO tubing. I was struggling to know what hose was what on my system and if I ever had to ask somebody to help me out it would have surely ended in disaster. Took an age to change over but much happier with the result. I also used 90 degree elbows to attach the lines to the hose holders as the old hoses were getting pinched too much and it was messing with the dosing a bit. I still have the middle DOS left hand side to change to black tomorrow.

Wow, I just read through your great build! I'm glad I was a part of it in a way with the light shades. They look great on your tank!
Thanks for checking my thread out! Really appreciated your kind words and can't thank you enough for taking the time to design such well-thought-out radion shades and then giving the file away for free. Legend!

Managed to save some money this month and order some corals finally. Acropora frags are becoming very scarce here in Scotland.
from left to right - Pikachu, oceana dreams and Poseidon’s flare. Got a few more coming next week from a different supplier.

Absolutely loving the colour coding. How do you find the Apex stuff in general? I have no experience with controllers/automation apart from my tunze auto water top off

Can’t lie I love it. I’m not a big writing code guy but the functionality of it all is just amazing. I would thoroughly recommend an apex to everybody. This is almost entirely based on how much better my aquariums and in particular my frag tank are now running.

Which suppliers do you use for purchasing corals. Do you have a couple of favourites?
I have almost exclusively used Mailordercorals until recently when I discovered ReefMachine. Great stuff and thoroughly impressed. For hands on buying though it is Water World in Glasgow. I just adore that place and the family run atmosphere and customer service is just second to none.

Thanks. I'll give them all a look. I'll pick your brain if I ever get around to setting up an Apex.

No problem at all. I’m still new to apex having only been running them for a few years. Still learning a lot. Even just this week I made changes to my heaters setup. BRS videos are genuinely a great help.

Which way do have your heaters set up? Heater thermostat doing the work with the controller as the fail safe or the other way around. I think I'm going with the heater controlling it first as I plan to replace them every 18 months.

Yes, heater controller first (Aquamedic twin) and then the apex having the final say if things go off piste. I ran just the apex as my heater controller for a year and then socket on my EB6 that was controlling the heaters started to fail. It got stuck on and my tank got to 32 degrees. Spoke to Neptune about it and he said the EB6 is not meant to be used for that quantity of cycles every day as I keep my tank between 25 and 25.5 with little margin for deviation.

Corals are doing really well and coraline growth has exploded recently too. I seeded it from my frag tank by crushing some sheets that had grown on my racks into the tank. Worked a treat! Also this week I installed a Nyos Torq reactor to the system running carbon. Just for water clarity.

100% agree this is the best way to do it.
