If you want a full sps tank you probably will want to mount the kessils 2 deep as well to cover the full 24”’s of the tank to eliminate shadowing. The T5’s will also help with this or other options like the orphek OR lightbars if you want to stay with led’s

Most people would say you need 3 radions xr30’s on a 6’ tank. Since the 360x is basically half of a xr30 I would say you want a minimum of 6 on a RSR 750. People put a lot more than 3 on that size tank for dense sps tanks though and they mount them front to back.

As the tanks is in the lounge I would want something tidy , adding t5 to the kessils would mean I would have to make a hood which might be ok, but maybe 3 radions would look better and cheaper than getting 6 c a360x , price/watt make the kessil really expensive .

If you really want to focus on fewer fixtures and good price per watt but still have a high end light you may want to look into the Orphek Atlantic V4’s 2 of those over the 750 would work well and have even less shadows than the kessil or radion due to their panel design

The color on the 360x is great, they have all the pros of the original tuna blues with the ability to add violet, red and green which really make your corals pop. I’m comparing mine side by side with my Orphek altlantik and they are very similar

You still need T5's as everyone else has said. Especially when you keep SPS.

With the color spectrum of the Orphek and the 360x the only 2 lights surpassing or matching the t5 in the color blue spectrum, why can'y I just go with the 360x and no t5

You still have shadowing issues unless you put enough 360x’s since it is a point light source

Panel style leds, led bars and T5’s cover more area and help to reduce shadows

The spread isn't here T5 's will give you a wider even spread of light. Now if you had a bunch of 360x across the whole tank maybe. Of the coarse the cost would be out of sight.:)

Just be prepared for the T5s to dull the crisp beautiful light of the Kessil with a blanket of flat fluorescent light. Plus you go from sleek minimal form factor, to big bulky contraption, unless you have a canopy of course.

Just wondering if anyone here has tried running the 360X as Kessil recommends (1 for 24x24” footprint)?
I may be an outlier here but with acros and montis on the top half of a 24” tall tank (and softies on lower half), I have yet to see any negative results when replaced the 360we. They’re all pieces that’s been in the system for less than a year and since the kessil is known for its direct point source, I expect to supplement with T5s once the shadowing becomes a problem.
I only ask because I’ve had no issue running the 360we as reccomended, and now the same with the 360x but I keep seeing users reccomend like 2 units for the same 24x24” area which to me seems like overkill.

Fluorescent light is flat. Hybrid fixtures are big and bulky. No bias here. We all know t5 is good for sps.

If you're sticking with softies and lps corals, 3 fixtures will be fine. If you're going to be doing sps / acros, you would be really limited in placement...a 4th kessil will be needed. Also, with any point source lighting solution, adding more units is always better to help ensure light reaches the inner parts of coral colonies as they grow. A branching acropora colony may be fine as a frag but is more likely to shade itself as it grows. This shading is one of the main reasons so many people still opt to supplement their LEDs with T5s.
