Im currently setting up my 25 gallon tank. Id get bigger but the apartment wont allow it.

Anyhow, id like to make an ats above the tank hidden in the black canopy area. I want my tank to be an ats filtration only tank! Its going to be an experiment.

I dont want moving pumps either just an air bubbler to move all the water.

The sun will shine on the tank and ats in the morning and have indirect sublight all day.

It will be a bare bottom tank with the glass painted to look like sand.

Any suggestions about this?

The only equipment ill have is an ats, a heater and possibly a red/blue led light for the ats and maybe a kessil led for the tank.

Think this can be done?

How high can you lift water with a bubbler? What kind of flow will your ATS require just to stay alive?
Just a couple of questions that may need to be addressed.

Good questions. Im trying to make it as siMple as possible. Ive seen a manufactured tank before with the same concept done. It used a luft pump and a rotating wheel that grew algae on it. All air and light driven. Eco wheel or something. I think i might need a heavy duty air pump to do it though. Ill post picks on my days off.

This sounds interesting. So no pumps at all....and that includes powerheads? And now a paddle wheel to lift the water into the ATS....I need pictures! And I would guess this would need a pretty hefty air pump....like a Super Luft. And let me just check....no skimmer either?

Will this be FO, FOWLR or Reef?

Please start a "Member's Tank" thread on this.....I want to follow along on this one. You've peaked my curiosity.

Yes id rather not use powerheads. I once had a bta get stuck in a powerhead. While he didnt die instantly it never recovered. Well see if its even possible. Im kind of doubting it. If i can make a dump bucket or surge device it may work. I have a skimmer and powerhead just in case the idea fails. I might get a maxspect gyre if needed.

As to inhabitants im going to try reef, but will start out with fowlr. If i get energetic ill start a tank thread.
