Above tank refugium

So I have been wanting a refugium for a while but my tank is not drilled since it is older and I do not want to drill the tank. So I came up with this contraption in place of the below tank refugium. Hope it works out.

Picture does not explain how this works, but a gravity feed to display from refugium would allow more live pods through to feed display.

Interesting idea! I hope those brackets are bolted into studs, that’s a lot of weight for them to hold.

Yes 9 lag bolts in all. Watches it with a level.

Refugiums don’t have enough benefit especially one that size.

Looks good though, how does water get to it and back to tank? Are you lighting during the tanks photoperiod?

If this is pushing water up, which it looks like it is, then this is truly a refugium.

I can't believe how many people put something in their sump and call it a refugium.

The display tank is 125 gallons. Looking to be majority corals in it. There is 25 gallons of water in the refugium.

Yes there is a 1200gph pump in the display pushing up to the refugium. Then gravity is taking water back to the display

Can you be more specific with “looking to be a majority of corals”. What type of corals?
SPS, LPS, NPS, SOFTIES.

It would also help me, if you tell me your experience level.

LPS. Zoas polys green star polyps. Also I have an elegance

How long has your 120G been set up? Is it always that blue?

PS. If you have kept an Elagance Coral any length of time, Kudos to you.

About 3 years. The light is going into “night”.

Your tank looks very nice. The elegance coral is spectacular. It would benefit big time with live Copepod feed from overhead refugium?

I give it reef roofs mixed heavy like a paste. And small cut cubes of silver sides or raw shrimp. No bigger than 1/4 inch.

Kudos. It loves what you do. Do you fed heavy in all areas and what do you do for nutrient export or nutrient recycling.

Consider live bivalves for a food fest: guts & all. I can get all three live, here in Austin. I use cultured black mussels at $0.10 each in the reef tank. Fresh live clams, I eat myself. Go figure.
