Acan growth.

I have this white thing growing on the side of my acan. Tried doing some searching but can't really find much info. At first I thought it was just growing a new head but now I'm not sure. Any idea?

New heads start as babies so that's not one, however the picture isn't clear enough to make a positive ID. Could be a sponge.
