I picked up my first acan Friday at my LFS. I think I got a good deal on a sweet looking acan. I got a 3 head frag for $15.

Now for my questions

1. How do they look (see photos below)?

2. Are they a named color phase?

3. I have them sitting on a rock for the photo. Where should I place them in the tank?

4. Did I get a good deal?

Thanks for looking.
Sorry the photos are not the best. Shooting to the curved glass is hard.

1- its looks awesome, 2 i don't know that one, 3- i think the rock is fine or the sand if im not mistaken. 4- i think you got a great deal, personally i would pay that to get those little beauties.
good luck

Thanks Greg! I almost got a green one as well. If you replaced the red with green, you would have the other ones my LFS had. I have alot of green in my tank now. So the red made a trip to it's new home.

I feed them some mysis shrimp today. That was very cool to watch!

its a crazy little world we have in our tanks, i can stare at a tank for hours and smile the whole time.

What type of lighting are you running? Usually people keep acans in the lower half of the tank as they prefer lower amounts of light.

Most acans do not have a common name like you're looking for unless they've been around a while and are known to hold their coloration, as far as I know these don't have a name. I'd say you got a darn good deal though. Keep em fed and they'll do well!

I'm running a 28gal hqi nano cube with the ome 150 watt 14k metal halide bulb.
Thanks for your two cents. I'll keep them in the lower part of the tank. The frag tank they came out of has a 250 watt 20k bulb.
