Hello, I have two colonies of acanthastrea and I shall like knowing how do you feed your acan? What food? With what frequency?
Thank you very much
Jonathan
Best way is to turn off the flow and squirt some small mysis/brine/coral food on top of the polyps. They will gobble it down in 10-15 minutes. Shrimp/crabs and fish will probably try to steal the food though.
approx. twice a week. feed them rod's food and mysis.
a tip to keep the scavengers from stealing food, is to take a 2 liter (or smaller if need be) bottle, cut the bottom off and place it over the coral your feeding. squirt the food in and place the cap on it. leave it in place for a bit.
it is important to mention, though, that you might want to pierce holes in the sides of the bottle, as some have forgotten or fallen asleep, leaving their coral without flow for a long period of time. not good. so, the holes will allow the coral to still get flow should you forget it.
mine have eaten chunks of krill up to 1/4 in size (so long as my lm blenny or crabs don't get it before it has eaten it)
