First, sorry about your accident. Hopefully you’re taking good care of yourself and focussed on you moreso than the tank.
If you do nothing but keep your nutrients in ideal ranges, the Dino’s will go away. It will take a longer time, but they will. Just takes awhile for them to get outcompeted.
I dosed Si and was Dino free in about 8-10 weeks. Not instant gratification, but also not a year. You can do a vacuum and get rid of as much as you can to give the diatoms a leg up in the beginning, but after that, just let the tank do it’s thing with your only focus keeping nutrients in the ranges. If you have osteoporosis, you may want to act faster, and add carbon, but really the Tx can be the same. UV works well on that strain, but not everyone is willing to run a UV.
