Usually, the company instructs you what to do - based on how they ship. When I have received shrimp before I have just temp acclimated them in the bag - and then removed the water from the bag and dropped the shrimp in the tank

Well - there are a couple issues - its not just salinity thats the issue - it can be all the other parameters as well. Second - Though I don't do it this way (as I already described) - if you don't 'drip' acclimate them - they may void any warranty. Third - I would try to order from a company that ships in the evening - and the livestock arrives in the AM (even if a little more expensive) and Fourth - shrimp will build up far less ammonia in the bag than a fish. I did a fast acclimation with a shrimp and it didn’t go well at all, and that was just transported for one hour.

Curious - what did you do - and what happened

poor thing had a fit as soon as I added it to the tank, took a while before it died, I was hoping it would come right, it seemed to get better then go again.

I floated the bag, then dripped for maybe 20 minutes.

I learned my lesson the next one was dripped for nearly 2 hours. He went in no problem at all.
