Anyone have some nice acropora Mariposa Colonies grown out? I'm absolutely loving mine.

Haven’t tried one recently.. back in the day I never had luck with them.. might grab one if I ever see one locally.

I guess it is Gemmifera or Monticulosa. I have it lower in my tank, but still good par and flow (I don't have my par mapped out yet). I definitely see new growth and the polyps are extending more weekly.

This thing is probably the fastest growing coral in my tank and that is saying something. I have a green slimer and montipora (though my ADS Rainbow is what's exploding right now). I'll have to get a picture of it in better lighting tomorrow. I thought it would be slow growing being at the bottom of my tank and having thick branches.

Edit: fastest growing THING in my tank (especially since I killed my chaeto, hahaha)

Never heard of acropora mariposa but that looks like a good start to a humilus or monticulosa. Certainly IS a coral to get excited about for sure! Love it, and would love other pictures if they have a similar nubby coral growing.

It is a monticulosa. I mistyped the name and can't edit it now, hahaha.

Hahah gotta love spell check. Awesome acro so I personally wouldn’t be mad if you wanted to call it a mariposa :)

I love this thing. Look at the growth between the first pic and this. It's insane and I might need to "name" it Mariposa (jk, lol). I love the polyps on the end.

This is a monticulosa a lot different. The one in your picture is not a monticulosa. If it would be It would not survive with that little light. Humilis is much more forgiving.I have all 3 humilis, gemmifera and monticulosa.Humilis can grow in a shadow compared to gemi and monticulosa.

I picked up something similar and I’m not sure the species? It’s really short and fat from a side view. My buddy got some wild stuff and cut me a frag. Hasn’t done much but encrust and still no color lol

The correlates look a little different. The colony is on the bottom of the tank, but it is right under an XR30 @100% and a Kessil A360 @100%, lol.

Edit: My ASD milli frags right next to it are almost all orange, so it's pretty high par. They'd be green otherwise, lol.

That is an awesome piece.
