Not really any success yet but I've kept it alive for a bit now with more PE. T5 + Quanta OG Pops.

Basically a bump, so I can see some more nice speciosa. OP, that thing is incredible!

My local fish store got it in a fragged it up. Just a mariculture piece.

he had two really nice ones. I went back a month later once this was doing well and bought the other. That one appears to be a loss at this point. Looked stressed, should have passed, but it looked so different I rolled the dice. Lesson learned, these are a bit finicky.

We can confirm what @Graffiti Spot was speculating….speciosa with some sort of hyperplasia/disease affecting the growth pattern. Hopefully the new growth will return to its normal structure.

I’m so sorry to learn of your medical diagnosis @Graffiti Spot (you’ll always be puedo confuego to me). I’m praying for the best possible outcome for you. Stay strong

Thank you and everyone for the well wishes, I got a full body pet scan yesterday and hopefully get the results Monday, fingers crossed for me. If it shows nothing spread anywhere else they said I have a good chance to pull through. Sorry to the OP I didn’t mean to highjack the thread with a personal medical issue of mine. So I would love to see others pics of either speciosa or striata.

Before the last screen name it was Piper27 back in the day, I am sure perry and a few others remember those days on rc. I am just glad there seems to be a much larger group of people these days who are interested in actual acropora identification. i think it’s helping that they are posted in the sps section and don’t get moved to a “identification” sub forum like they used to go to. Maybe one day we can get some good links together from the free sites that are actually pretty good for learning how and what to look for.

Now y’all have me wanting to see some acropora striata pictures though. I wasn’t aware Bali had started culturing them, anyone pick one up and have success? The formations of the ones in Japan are just amazing and truely look like stag horn. The reefbuilders image looks much much thinner branched. Maybe from being kept in the lower flow Bali farm areas.
