I have an acrylic sump that is drilled for an external return pump, I think its about 2&1/2 inch bulkhead.
I want to use this sump on my tank upgrade but I don't want to go with an external pump. is patching the hole
as simple as cutting a square piece of acrylic and welding it on? definitely want the patch to be something that won't eventually leak. any advice would be great, thanks.

Put the proper size bulkhead fitting in the hole and then get a plug fitting (threaded or slip) and the hole is plugged by tightening or gluing the fitting into the hole.

that's probably the route ill take, thanks for the input
