Acrylic tank build thickness

Nutramar Foods
Glasscages uses 3/8 for their acrylic 48x18x17 with a black frame. I wanted the extra 1" high so I am using 1/2. Over The Edge sells standard size frames.
 
18 inch height , a full inch and you can skip the top brace completely
