Hello Reef2Reef!

I have a great place in my home to put a fish tank, but the dimensions would have to be 17 1/2 inches wide x 74 1/2 inches long. Any wider and the tank goes out too far into a walkway in the house.

I have two questions:

(1) Is there a minimum width (I heard the guys from the show Tanked on Animal Planet say that a minimum of 24 inches in width is recommended)?

(2) What would be the recommended height of the tank if it was 17 1/2" x 74 1/2"?

P.S. I attached a picture of the space I'm talking about.

Thank you!

If you are having one custom built you can have it any size you wish. The most important things I would be aware of is the thickness and not have it too top heavy. EX. You really do not want to have a 36" high x 12" deep...it would probably tip over easier than a 36x36"..hope this helps.
