So the amperage would be lower in 2 parallel with 3 each versus 1 series with 6?
And does it help keep heat down too?

Afaict heat would be the same.
All the LEDs see the same amount of current...3v , 0.5A.
Power supply would be different 9v 1A vs 18v 0.5A...Same wattage .same electrical consumption. As I understand it...

2 calculations..only difference is in the power supply voltage. This is for constant voltage arrays. The terminating resistor is " effectively" the current limiter..

Guess that does change the heating a bit?
