I was wrong. I followed the wires and they go to the fans and nowhere else, and no other wires go to the fans.

I was wrong again, there are 3 pairs of wires and the other pair go to the small 12w-12v board.

My guess is this is the moonlight channel. Three pairs of wires go to the led panel, and this is one pair
Yes .. a little constant current driver. The tiny 6 legged ic is probably the driver IC. The big one the mosfet switch.

Never mind.. so all those should be 12v..Yea the wirings a mess..

7.8 volts to microcontroller
For future reference or last resort that should be good enough o run a tc-420. I KNOW 9v works (9v battery).
Specs dictated max DC is 10.5V (10 written on the ic itself.)
Wonder where the 12v to 7.8v occurs..

Is "IC" a type of capacitor?

The brown wire comes from a dimmer knob board and the orange wire comes from a resistor on the 12w-12v board

So they use a resistor to drop the voltage. Crude but effective.
Browns just ground. Really could have come from anywhere.

Sorry "Integrated circuit"
Def..

An integrated circuit (IC) — commonly called a chip — is made out of a semiconductor material called silicon, in which small electronic components called transistors are formed within the silicon and then wired together with interconnects layered on top of the silicon surface.
MOSFET being the solid state equivalent of a relay. But capable of high speeds.

Like 997 cycles/second

I'm assuming the black /white wires are DC.. Why there is a green wire cut off is ?
What does the writing say on the circuit board under the wires?

I am open to any ideas. I really dont understand the router option. Can it communicate with the light controller without internet?

I'm getting crazy thoughts now in order to clean this up a bit..
The moonlightings got to go. At first I thought of how to modify it to make it a normal, controllable, dimmable string. It can be done but personally not likeing moonlights I thought.. Why not just incorporate it into the blue channel string? since there are less leds in it than the white and white it "may" (one catch is that the "white"channel contains red leds that have a lower V(f) than blue leds) be possible just to add the three to the current blue string. All leds need to be in series so there is a series string of blues and all one needs to do is add the 3 in series to it.
Will get back to this..

OK doesn't say "L" and "N" and GND.
En is probably engage like to turn it on or dim it..
But who knows. Pretty cheesy board .

example..ok enable..(raised on star trek)

You just communicate to the router and your phone.
Technically it "may not need" the "actual" internet.
It's just for the light to establish communication to your phone, not to visit the world..
IF you can get your hands on an old router it worth a shot.
It would establish a network of 2, your phone and the router.
You will need the lights app installed on your phone.

Also need to configure the router through its home page logon.
Call it "mycrazylightoonly" and some password.

when you logon on your phone will probably tell you "no internet available" Doesn't matter then load the lights home page.

Yea there are a bunch of if's here..

Just curious, what the two parallel diode trios accomplish going to the same point?

Not criticizing the choice, i know nothing about it. I would like to understand what running power thru 2 parallel diode trios would accomplish. It that the "boost" or power conditioning or something else?

It's just a matter of spreading out current and keeping voltage down.

Doing 3 diodes by 10 parallel is no different than 10 in series 3 parallel besides power distribution
Say the led Voltage at 500mA is 3 volts.
3x10 is 9v 5a
10 x 3 is 30v 1.5A

All in series would be 90 volts 0.5A.

All are 45w ..as I said just a choice based on your chosen power supply.

In my odd choice of driver chips ( has nothing to do with what we are working on except it used "en").
the constraints is a power supply that is 3.3-to 6v. Which us boosted to a max voltage of 36v.

Other than that ...??? There are a lot of different types of driver ic's s out there
