I have a single female Watanabe angel that has grown from 2 inches to about 4 inches in 6 months. Fat and happy. Fully female coloring.

I want to get a second Watanabe. Should I get a male and just be done with it? Would that male need to be same size? Or should I get another small female? Will the big female be more receptive to either?

I would like to see coloration change, so am inclined to get another female.

My vote is for a smaller female. The more dominant fish will sex change, and then you'll have the male and a female. It might take a while, since organs need to change purposes, but it'll happen!

If you get a male, what happens if the female has already started transitioning? You'll probably get one very aggro male, and one very submissive male...so I don't think this would be a good option.
