Adding clownfish question

I know this has been discussed a lot but I have a different situation. I had a mated pair for almost 15 years. The male passed away about 4 months ago and I added a 4 yr old known male clownfish. They got along. No fighting. Even started hosting the same anemone but they never became a "mated" pair.

My female clown of 15 years passed away yesterday. I'm still missing her obviously...... However I now have a 220 gal tank with one known male anemone.

Oscellaris male clownfish.

He was very submissive to the female clown. If he stays alone for awhile will he eventually become a female? Is it safe to add a juvenile clown or what suggestions do any of the experts have.

I'd try and just keep a eye on them but shouldn't be a issue with the room you're giving them if needed.

IME, adding as small a clown as you can go, knowing that it's been in a group will help a ton. Some might be adventurous enough to say try adding two smalls and shoot for a trio, especially in that big of a tank. Condolences on the loss; clowns are great fish.

Dropped a juvenile baby in with a 4 year old male. So far so good.
