Adding lighting gels to aquarium lights

Hi, I recently purchased a new aquarium light, and it makes my corals coloration look really dull, I was wondering if I could put a lighting gel over the light to add more blue coloration to the light. Would this affect the spectrum and kill my corals?

Use a [HASHTAG]#lux[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#meter[/HASHTAG] and test it out!

The simple answer is that yes, it will affect the spectrum as well as the intensity. The question is how much!

I'd love to hear the answer! Do you have gels to experiment with?

Yes I do have gels, I will be sure to let you know

Each gel is a filter. Each filter will only allow a specific range of frequency of the spectrum to pass. All others will be filtered out.
But depending on the density of the filter will be how much the intensity is lowered.

Mainly for color pop you'll be looking at the bluer filters I would guess.

Btw CTB and CTO will affect the overall color temp. Party gels will provide a more specific spectrum.
