Hey guys,

I just wanted to make sure I do this correctly. I want to add about another 1" of sand to my tank.

From what I've read, I get dry sand and wash it like crazy to get all of the silt out.
Put it in a pvc tube and gently lift the tube out while moving the sand where I want it.

What I'm afraid of though, is covering something (detritus) up and causing a dangerous spike in levels (or, a "mini cycle")

Any tips on doing this to be sure that nothing threatening will happen to my stock?

Whenever I have added new sand, I always do it in small areas at a time. Wash it really good, add it in, and then I usually mix it in with the existing bed a little bit.
