Adding smaller, more timid fish after a tang. Issues?

Hi all, sorry if this is a really beginner question. I would like to add a yellow eye kole tang to my recent 65-gallon setup. I will be able to get my hands on one in the coming weeks, but since Hawaii seems to be closed to the trade, I do not want to let the opportunity pass. With that said, I am considering adding him in advance of some of the other fish I plan to add to the system. Do you think it is possible to add a yellow watchman goby and a pink streaked wrasse (very timid) after the tang? Or do you think the tang may be too aggressive towards these more peaceful newcomers? Thanks!

Your tank is not big enough for a yellow eye kole tang. They need a lot of swimming space and they get big

A yellow eye kole tang will be aggressive towards peaceful fish...especially if the more agressive fish goes in first before peaceful fish. Peaceful fish need to acquire their area first

Your tank’s too small either way. The smaller Bristletooth species still need a minimum of a 4 foot 75-80 gallon tank, 90+ more ideal.

Thanks all, I am planning to upgrade to a larger 90-gallon within the next year-and-a-half, so I will move him in once he gets larger. Thanks for the help.

You’re welcome. If you have a solid upgrade plan and get the Tang on the smaller side, then I suppose a year would be fine as they aren’t the fastest growers.

Agreed with the others, this size is a bit small. In saying that I've had my Yellow in a 90 for 16 years, which is right on the edge of too small.

If you intend on going ahead, I would plan a size upgrade down the road (ah I see you just mentioned that, good plan) . As for aggression, I've never had an issue that way with YT over the years. He is boss, and any additions seem to know it....

I had a Kole, he was mean to new fish and some established fish in a 80g. I sold it... then bought another since Hawaii closing :rolleyes:

Yes, the Kole may bully new fish. Some are okay and others are jerks.
