So my original design didn't pan out exactly how I would like so I'm going to readdress this. It's all theoretical right now and I'm getting a parts list together, but, for optimal flow and most importantly, silence. Does the pipe in my picture have to have a down ward slope or can I just 90° into my stand and then 90° down through the floor on the other side? I'd prefer if I could run flat so that I can keep heads space and utilize under the tank, but that's not essential and functionality and SILENCE is what takes priority. Thanks!

That particular pipe will need to be at a downward slope. If not, air will get trapped in it causing noise and problems on restart along with potentially not ever creating a full siphon. As for how much slope, I follow plumbing standards of 1/4" drop per foot of span and seem to have had no issues in the past.

I ran mine kinda like you are planning. The plumbing is quiet and the only noise I have is the water going into the overflow up top. I wanted mine silent as well because it is in my bedroom. Hope this helps

Short runs like this don't tend to need to be at an angle. The pressure of the water tends to clear the air from the pipe, but on long runs of plumbing there is a lot more air which requires a lot more pressure to clear. OP's drawing made it seem like a long run. I'd say anything longer than a 2' section of pipe should have a slope to it.

Yea my sumps in the basement. Right now it's flat and my overflow box isn't quite kosher so I'm overhauling the whole thing but it's noise and I want to do it right this time. I didn't have R2R last time

Definitely make sure to slope your runs then. When I first plumbed my basement sump I had too much back pressure and the flowrate wouldn't clear the air making it super loud. The other thing to keep in mind is that the more plumbing the more noise will echo and travel back up through the secondary drain.

What exactly is causing the noise though? I have a Eshopps large overflow and I hate it. Can't push half the advertised flow through it without it being ungodly loud. In my case, it comes down to overflow itself. The plans are to order a custom overflow from Modular Marine that I can swap out to replace it. Should allow me to bump up my flow while making sure everything is nice and quiet.

So my system is a 100% custom and I have a glass overflow weir and I attempted a bean animal style similar to what I saw on his page a made. That said, I was dumb and glued fittings, so I cant adjust it. So, because of that my water falls from tank down like 3" and splashes, and because I can't adjust so much it struggles to get air out of the main siphon. If i put my hand on the main siphon pipe, I can feel the water turbulence coincide with the water splashing noise i feel. If it runs long enough it gets mildly better, but everytime i turn off the return pump to feed it restarts. I'm actually discussing a overflow box with modular marine right now!
