Advice needed with dry coral

guys so a friend of mine gave me a big chunk of dried coral he basically took of out of his clients tanks dries them outside and sell thems i guess. So i got this chunk from him it’s alottle dirty from like outside debris is it okay to rinse it with tank water and re enter it into the tank? Or does it have to be cured ? Or cycled or what anyone have any experience with this stuff some pictures

Any organics trapped inside or on the surface need to decay or will add unwanted nutrients to your tank.

I do this in rubbermaid containers with freshwater. Changing the water 100% after you test no phosphate leaching can cycle in the rubbermaid container too. Or if there is no corals in your tank.

So just get a let’s say small bucket with lid and keep the rock in there with fresh water for few days? Weeks?

Will depend on how dirty, your phosphate tests will tell you when you can pull out :)

Sweet so just test ammonia and phosphates yah? Could i use tank water when i do water changes use the return water as the curing water or should i just use fresh water from like bottled water?

My experience is the large pores of skeletons trap stuff and end up being algae magnets.

As long as your water change water isnt super high in nutrients yes can cycle* in wc water [emoji4]

Yah that’s what I’m planning to have something encrust it just don’t really know what i really want like orange blue or red definitely no greens tho something along those lines

Not really, I've seen them go for about 30 to 60 for a frag. That's all you'll need.

sweet man thanks for the advice definitely gonna do it once im done curing this thing ill power wash it first has alot of dirt and stuff then soak it till shows no phosphates / ammonia and lasty get these cyphastreas to encrust exciting stuff
