Advice on straightening lights

What can I do to straighten these up a bit?

I would rehang them with 4 mounting points, 2 for each light.

Two hooks per light, with the two strings going to one point the light is allowed to twist and turn, if you use two hooks and space them out, the light will be limited to turning.

What if you already drilled 2 1/2” holes in your ceiling? Since the holes are centered over the lights they would be useless right?

Not necessarily. you could hang them spread out, it might look weird but it'll work, what I mean by that is this;

That could work too. Best bet would be to get up on the ladder, and hold them in place, and have someone else look at the lights and see if they stay straight before drilling any holes :)

If drilling more holes is not an option or you wish to avoid that, get a short length box aluminum bar. Use two cables and mount the bar off the hooks with the cables being vertical from the bar to the hooks. Then hang the lights from the bar. This way you can position the lights closer or further apart as the tank matures as well as add a third or fourth light, or even a different type of lighting system if you want. Just be sure to have cables from the bar to the hooks well secured to the bar, ie: drill the bar and use an eye loop and screw that to the bar then suspend the cables to them.
