I had a pretty rough tank crash a few months ago (my own fault, of course, and regrettably). I thought everything had been wiped out, but a leather coral sprung back to life and a cleaner shrimp made it, in addition to (most) of the CUC. Before the crash, I'd had a pretty bad case of vermetid snails, which seem to have also been a casualty. Now, after a few months of sulking and little maintenance, I'd like to get things back up and running properly. My instinct, especially in view of the vermetid infestation, was to use this as an opportunity to break everything down and start fresh, but I was hoping that folks would have some advice:
1. For the surviving life - do you think I could transfer those dudes to a QT tank for approx. a month while I get the tank cleaned, reset, and cycled? How significant is the risk of any unwanted parasites or vermetids coming with them? Following my first go around, I'm planning (famous last words) to do a more rigorous QT going forward, but given it would be a coral and inverts, I don't think I could medicate the QT tank, right?
2. For the rocks in the tank now - can they be scrubbed and dried to prevent new vermetid growth, or should they be discarded and replaced, along with the sand?
3. For cleaning, from reading on R2R, it looks like a decent solution is to run citric acid/fresh water through the system for a few days and then thoroughly clean all the components before adding new salt water. Do you think anything more extensive should be done given the earlier pest problem?

Thanks so much for the input - hoping to be able to share new build photos in the not too distant future!

I was out of town and the heater failed. Nothing but the one shrimp and CUC seemed to make it, but once the heat was back on a leather coral sprung back to life. Now it's just a mess of algae, and my thought of breaking it down was to start fresh/hopefully eliminate the vermetids (at least initially). But I'm not sure the best way to house the survivors/make sure everything is properly cleaned.
