My tank 245G SPS Dominate DT (+120G S + 150G R) is just under 1 yo, majority of Acro (50+) are about 9 months and doing great. Fully encrusted, most Frag's started 1/2 - 1" and are now 2-3". Parameters are spot-on Alk 9.8, Ca 420, Mg 1450, pH 8.1-8.3. Low Nitrates and Phosphates. Regular water changes.
The only colony I purchased was a 2-3" red dragon. It was good for 4 months with some modest growth never encrusted.... About 8-10 weeks ago... quick death. RTN. I pulled it when it started, dipped it, fragged it.... everything piece died. I chalked it up to RTN.
2 weeks later a nearby 1.5" Etchinata RTN in a couple hours. Never had a chance to Frag. At the same time, I noticed tissue recession on two other nearby Acros. The recession looks oval in shape and looked like bite marks. Immediately thought AEFW and the marks look like every image you find on the subject.
I went into panic mode.... Immediately dosed Flatworm Exit (600G treatment) with a second treatment 2 weeks later. Also started auto dosing Flatworm Stop between the 2 treatments. Still dosing stop daily and getting ready to start Coral Booster.
It's now 4 weeks after the first dose of Exit. Both Acro are alive and growing. The first seems to be healing. The second's recessed tissue is slowly expanding... coral maybe growing faster than the recession though. Pictures below are with a flashlight when the lights were off.
I think I should let the first piece go since its healing. Debating whether or not to cut the second piece out. Should I cut only the area of the sore or the whole thing?
Any other suggestions? I have not seen an AEFW. I dip with Bayer so it's hard to see anything that falls off. Admittedly I was not looking for AEFW.
