i got a new royal gramma. He’s been in QT for 5 days with the light off. He seems to be healthy and doing good. Today, I decided to turn the light on. He got scared and after 15 min he was laying flat on the bottom of the tank. I was worried I killed him. I quickly turned the light off. About 5 min later he was swimming around acting normal. Should I not run lights in the QT?

Royal Grammas are weird. They like to hang around in holes and under ledges a lot. I would keep the light on, but make sure he has some dark places to hide.

Turn the light intensity down, maybe to around 10% then increase it a little every day until it’s as bright as your DT. Imagine you were in a dark room and suddenly somebody blasted you with light. Better to light a candle than a bonfire for light in this case :)
