I traded today at my LFS a Singapore angel for a six line wrasse. Before you tell me i got ripped off, the angel started to eat my corals. I was happy to get what I did for it. But after I added the wrasse to the tank the magenta dottyback went over to him and started attack him. The wrasse sat there and took it. I noticed it had a mark on it's side so I took the dottyback out and put in my sump. I had to take all the rocks out to get him, so I also did a restructure. The structure is very similar to what I had, but it isn't the same (More openings throughout the tank). My wife decided after this when we went back to the LFS for some nic-nacs that she wanted a yellow clown goby. So I have that now too. My question is, do you think keeping the dottyback in the sump for a week and then putting him back in the display will make him less aggressive? I don't want to tear down the rocks again to get him out.

IMO, you need to decide between the wrasse or the dottyback...both can be mean..i would not put the dottyback back in the main tank as it will fight the wrasse (again)

I agree… there are so many posts about dottyback aggression. They are just beautiful fish so very tempting… but this is all to common a scenario. I would NOT try again. Lucky that your wrasse survived this time. Hope it will pull through
