It’s a slow grower for sure but possibly end of this year I would have some. It tends to get green in lower lighting so I moved one I have on a tile back under a halide to see if it purples up more.

Not really sure. It was doing great and just RTN on me. I had a lower dip in phosphate that could have been responsible but not 100% sure. The new piece I picked up in February is doing great and coloring up well.

I have been aiming to keep nitrates between 15-20 and phosphates above 0.15 lately and it seems to be helping with coloration.

Keeps the coral from encrusting too much, prevents snails from bumping into the corals, and makes them easier to pick up without touching the coral. I used to only use 3” tiles but the corals would just encrust for a year or more before taking off. Some are mounted up 3-4” while others are shorter.

If I get a new piece I’ll usually wait a few weeks. I’ll start them in lower light and slowly move them up to where I think they would do best. Then I’ll remount them and glue them. There is probably a better way of doing this but it allows the plugs to fit snug into eggcrate and not move around with a rubber band wrapped around the plug.

This is an example of how the coral spends less time encrusting and just starts to build some good growth. This was a frag I got in January.

POTO After Burner

I love the afterburner. Mine looks almost identical to yours, and I have it in a low par corner of the tank. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get it to look like POTO’s picture. The one on the cover of the magazine. With the golden brownish skin. Maybe even lower par?

This is the only colors I can get from it. It’s being blasted with par too. Probably seeing 500-600 during peak.
