New ai prime 16hd owner here.

I've got this set up on my evo with a mesh lid.

I downloaded David saxby presets.

I have it about 8 inches above water line. This is as high as I can go due to having to center the light with the 12" flex arm. Is this OK?

I have it in acclimation mode at 30 percent to acclimate over a week (I only have 2 corals and an anemone). Is this OK?

Also, this is pretty blue and I like a little whiter light. Can I safely increase the white without frying my anemone or 2 corals?

Thanks guys. It's a lot to digest all at once. The stock light was just off, on, or blue.

My GSP seems to love it already.

It’ll likely be ok but if you can finesse it up by 2”, you’ll be better off in terms of spread and not creating a hot spot that will roast corals near the top center of that rock work.

I wouldn’t acclimate at 30% over such a short period of time. It will increase intensity to drastically and could stress your corals. I’d start at 50% and acclimate over a long period 30 days for example.

White won’t really help your corals, but yes you can increase the whites without frying your corals but that will also depend on what your overall %s are sitting at. Over that tanks none of your percentages should be over like 60-70% max.

Thanks!

I have the preset, so the peak settings are this. Is this too high?

Yep. Easy way to adjust any preset.

If you can ever get your hands on a par meter, that’ll be your best bet to make sure you’re getting what you want out of the lights, but yes, much better than where you started IMO.

Personally, I’d drop whites closer to 10 and then I think you’re good to go. It sounds like you like whites though, which is fine, but I would avoid going any further up on the whites from where you are.

For reference, here are my settings over a Nuvo 20 and my tank.

I’d try to view with with the whites as they are for a bit and see if you get used to it. The colors will pop more if you keep them in the 10-40 range. It might not seem like enough at first while you’re on acclimation mode, but once you’re fully ramped up at the end of the 2 weeks (or ideally 30 days), you can judge if you the colors.

I was thinking this myself. I have gotten used to the stock evo lights, which are VERY white.

I'm a fan of not messing with things too much (bad things happen).

I'm going to leave my settings as they are.

I changed my acclimation period from 30 percent over 7 days to 50 percent over 30 days.

I've set it, now it's time to forget it. :D

Id turn that down. I have an Prim 16HD over my 20x20x12 tank. I just got my Seneye to measure the PAR.

Mt light is about 10" or so above the water
I had it set to

65
80
109
109
20
20
35

I was getting a measurement of 600 par 4" below the surface and like 350 on the sand.
I dropped it down to give me about 300 4" before and around 100-150 at the sand

I did turn it down to the following settings. Are you saying you would turn it down further?

no I was just going by the first photo you posted. That probably isn't to bad
Awesome thank you.

It doesn't seem like much as I'm also at 50% in my acclimation period.

I'll probably have to order the 18" flex arm as I can't get this one any higher and still have it centered.

If you have the flexibility to go without the cover, you can mount the prime off the side glass pane and stick with the 12” flex arm. Her was my EVO 5 with the setup I’m suggesting. You can see the prime mounted off the side glass.

B/c you’ve brought the lights within a more reasonable range, you can likely shorten the acclimation period, e.g. start at 75% with a 2 week acclimation. Just observe your corals and if they seem to be doing ok, no signs of distress, you can probably get to your desired settings quicker. There’s really no magic to it

That looks really nice.

The problem is, I made that cover myself from the brs diy kit and I'm kinda partial to it and would like to keep it, lol. I'm not really a handy man, so I'm proud of it!

I'll get the 18" gooseneck.
