hello all!
I've been running an AI prime for a few months and I love it but I've been running 100% with ramp ups and downs.
I've also been having some cyano on the sand issues. Will lowering the intensity help with this? (I know feeding/phosphates etc will also help)
Also what intensity is best for coral growth of lps and zoa/paly? Been running between 17-18k most of the day at 100%.

toning down the light schedule will help. i keep my lights on for about 8-9 hours with 1 hour ramp times in the beginning and end of the day. i do 60% white, 80% violet, 20% red and green, 100% royal blue and deep blue, 80% uv. but you can start around 50% white and everything else at what i have it at. also 100% everything can bleach your corals if they get too much light.

Ok, I set based on kelvin originally. I will take a look when I get home. I believe the majority of the day it's only at 30-40 white.
Thanks for the wxact numbers! I will definitely try it out tonight

I tested my water last night because I thought I may be overfeeding, nope. Ammonia nitrite nitrate all zero (shocked the heck out of me lol) and mag at 1380. I didn't test anything else though. Corals and fish all seem happy...its just that sticky slime over the sand that's a problem for me.

I use rodi (made a whole post about the findings lol) it's amazing how different it is!

I turn on at 10, off at 6 with a 2 HR ramp. I run at 100% intensity though. Joe, I think I'm going to try your settings and lower the intensity...ill try 80% for a week or two. Do you think 2 weeks will be enough to see a difference?

I think 80% on whites still way too strong. I have sps that love strong light but my whites are only at 65%. Stay with whites around 50% and blues at 80% and greens and red at 20% with uv and purple at 60-80%. 2 weeks you won't see a difference. You have red slime. If I were you I'd chemiclean your tank and then try to lower the light intensity. Red slime doesn't go away unless you do something.

At 18k, whites are at 10-20%. (That's at 100% intensity).
I'm going to try 80% intensity.
All I have are zoas and a few Lps.

Does chemiclean have any negative effects? On coral or fish?
I need to treat 2 frags for bryopsis...chemiclean doesn't do that right?

No it doesn't just follow the instructions and you'll be good. And I don't think so no.

I've been running this setup for a few months. I'd like to increase the whites to get more PAR but I'm afraid to.
