The ugly stage is in full bloom! I believe I just passed the 60 day mark sense adding water. Overall everything seems to be going great! I am even starting to see my coraline algea show up as specs on all my ugly dry rock and power heads. I feel like I am miles ahead of my first tank at the 60 day mark. I added some glr grunge, and a few more fish sense my last update. For the most part I think my reef is loving the new home!!

Persistence. I wore mine down and had 4 up and running (fresh/2salt) (briefly) Eventually settled on 2 a 90 and a nano freshwater. Look you’re already ahead of the game in that you already have the other tank. Just sayin’ there’s really nothing to lose

Tonight we finish stocking our fish. The LFS and basic reading suggested I do the yellow tangs last. I have stuffed them in an acclimation box to wait for lights out. Hoping for some luck on this. Overall it has been slow introducing in stages but worth it. The aggression has been minimal, we even kept all 5 of our original clownish.

I like the skimmer so far. Keep in mind its my first skimmer, so I have nothing to compare it to. Sorry for the delayed response.

Its been awhile, between post. The tank has been running about 100 days now. So far the tank is doing really well in my opinion. My ugly stage seems to have not been too bad at all (maybe even over). Maybe it was the live rock from my old tank or the GLR grunge (possibly both)? I decided to experiment with a couple sps to see if the system is stable enough. I have lots of coraline of different colors appearing heavily.

Well it all started with a trip to the city to find my first dosing system, for my 40g breeder. The LFS had a redsea reefdose 4 in stock so I decided to make the long 1hr drive... plus I love going to brick and mortar stores!! As I was walking out I spotted a Eshopps Mariner 100 (the first Mariner I had ever seen). The store owner noticed my investigation and decided to make sure I left knowing the price and that he had it at a substantial discount. I was planning on upgrading my tank this winter but I was planning on ordering a waterbox infinia 150 at a later date. I had never considered or really even heard much about the Eshopps mariner tanks until that moment.

I spent the next 48 hours with my mind consumed by this tank. Comparing it to the other 48in tanks by the leading competitors. Finally decided that I do not see new tanks at used prices very often so I pulled the trigger. My son and I had to borrow my wife's van and it BARELY squeezed in haha. We are extremely excited, and we plan on sharing as much of this build as we can. This will be a great upgrade from our 40g breeder. Im pretty sure step one is bracing my floor haha. (we live in a manufactured home from 2005).

Hello I hope all is well. I am getting this same tank. A couple of questions… are you using the MP10 or MP40? How many filter socks does it have? Because I am getting a fleece roller and was wondering if it has 2 or 3 socks

Glad to hear of another mariner! I have two mp40's. Both are set at 40% random reef mode. My sump uses 2 of the square filter socks. I have been told my sump is the original version. Yours may be different, I am excited for you to let me know. Either sump should have the 2 square filter socks though.

The coraline algea seems to be growing rapidly now. Tank is roughly 4 months old, coral are doing good overall. Fish drama has died down, and everybody seems content . We have also received a 100% green light to add tank to my shop!! Haha so we have started to build a frag system. I will include some pictures here as we continue. Thanks for looking!

Hahaha, that's exactly why I skipped over the M70 and went straight to the M100. I figured if I was going to upgrade, I wanted enough room that I wouldn't immediately be dreaming about the next tank.

That said, I got to see the M180 in person when I ordered the M100, and that thing is an absolute MONSTER! Fortunately, my wallet and floor joists helped bring me back to reality.
