Hi everyone, posting for the first time here!
I've had this Grube's gorgonian frag in my tank for a few months now, and it seems to be growing and healthy, however today when I had the lights off to acclimate a new invert, I noticed some strange growth on the gorgonian (the brownish blob in the photos) I tried gently brushing it off, and then not so gently scraping it with my fingernail but it doesn't seem to want to come off completely. Any advice?

If it is the tiny object between the branches I would leave it alone, but you could always try tweezers.

It seemed to be growing from the surface of the gorgonian when I was trying to scrape at it before. Not just attached to a single point where it would be easy to pick off. Is it possible the gorgonian will be able to eject it over time?

It seems like your gorgonian is out of the water for some reason. Try not to do that since it can kill them....at least from my reading, and considering we're talking generically about "a gorgonian", as a rule they don't grow in areas where they can be exposed to air....they grow outside of well lit areas, deeper in the water.
