Algae help not sure what to do?

Hi All,

My tank (60 gallons) has been running right around a year and i've never had any hair algae and then all of a sudden in the last few weeks GHA which I think it is has just taken off in my tank. I have a fuge that has some type of other algae to reduce nutrients and its pretty basic. I have 2 other tanks in my house and none seem to have GHA so I'm a bit stumped. Only thing I can guess is my tank is next to a window but its been that way for around a year and algae just started appearing. Corals are thriving just annoyed by the algae cause its covering my corals. Ive ran my tank with PO4 up to .061 without algae so I don't think its that.

I have 6 fish total and have limited to feeding them 1 shrimp cube a day to see if I can reduce the nutrients. My tang doesn't seem to put a dent in the algae and I added a few uchins and turbo snails.

Do you think I should add another tang or a lawnmower blenny? Is there a treatment to use? Here are some pics below.

Seasonal change in natural sunlight angle and therefore intensity? I would just beat it back manually and put the urchin and or the snails directly on top of it.

Margarita snails are algae destroyers. Buy a half dozen. Then more if needed.

That green stuff is sucking up the phosphate leading to lower results, which actually might be quite higher.

Combine that with natural sunlight, steeped in the red spectrum (plant stuff loves this] and…..poof…..GHA tuffs.

Pull all that out, do a couple water changes, wait one day and restest.

The GHA stuff must have light and food, both it may be getting.

If you limit those two things, you’ll make a huge dent which can then be handled by snails, urchin.

Should I try covering the window to reduce the Light coming into the tank? Im going to go out and buy a bunch more snails.

Elbow grease and brushes are the best bet. A set of bottle brushes and a stiff brush used for dentures works the best. Remove the hair algae manually as often as you can. Eventually, it won't come back. About the only thing I've found that will eat HA after it gets long is a Sea Hare.
