algae id? And how to solve it.

I saw a patch of cyano again!! since I have no corals im going to do a 3-4 day blackout. Do I need to watch my ph? Should i have my fuge light on?

Cyano is a bacteria not an algae so the blackout won't help.

Siphon it out and add some flow to the area where it was. You may have to do that several times. Bacteria feeds on carbon and some who dose vodka (or other carbon sources) to feed bacteria that feed on nitrates may also get a bloom on cyano.

I belive you also pulled the rocks out and put them back. Probaly stirred stuff up.

Just my experience, I tried limiting lighting and less food, and it only worked alittle. After 3 months of it I did chemi clean (I know some prefer not to use chemicals), and made sure my flow was increased and it made it go away for good (been around 5 months), but I think it caused a mini cycle.

Just did a w/c today and it seems ok for now. Feel like im facing diatoms or dinos. Is there any way to know what it really is?
