Hi All

I am currently in the market for an algae scrubber

I'm just trying to get some opinions of what people have. Does any one have any experiences with the aquatic guyz scrubbers? Icecaps? and of course the clearwaters.

Thanks!

yea - ive actually been looking at building one myself. i was following Cyclone Reefs build of a light. was super interesting.

i was gonna weigh up the difference between buillding one or just getting one built by aquatic guyz. they run about 150$ for a blacked out one

If you have the sump space, build one that utilizes as much space as possible.
If you don't have the space $150 isn't bad. I have seen insane ones for $800.
Another option if you don't have the sump space, is to get a smaller tank, build the scrubber to fit that and plumb it either with a pump or feed it with a manifold.
This is mine in my sump, $30 and the bulk of that was a light bulb.

You should check out Marine Magic. They have a hang on one for $159. I believe it handles up to 160 gallons. Slim design. I have it hanging on my sump.

Chaeto and a Led Light. Doesn’t get easier than that. Almost maintenance free and the result are proven

I have a Pacific Sun which seems ok. It's on 24/7 but I get NOWHERE near the chaeto production when I just had chaeto in my fuge with a cheap, outdoor LED floodlight over it. Thinking of sitting a 20ltr tank on the sump of my Reefer 450 and losing the scrubber. You also get lots of pods with a 'mini fuge'.
The pic is my old fuge AFTER a chaeto cull
