Is that all I can do because I been using R/O waterit seems a new reef so it’s normal you have brown algae! One thing you need to take care it’s your replacement water, the R/O water could reduce this algae!!
Yeah I have lights I have t8s I run an hour and half before the t5 comes on for 2 hours and then the t8 fir another hour and halfIt’s going to look a lot worse before it looks better, all part of the cycle.
You could leave the lights off if no coral, if you have lights, that will help a lot.
apart from that, just keeping up with your cleaning and water changes.

Ok I have 2 clowns that’s all right now but I don’t need the lights to complete the total cycle and try to start corallineno point if you don’t have corals, will just be helping grow the algae.

You need to cycle the tank and get the tank mature before even thinking about coralline algae, one step at a time, keeping the lights off will help you get there.
Ok how long should I leave the lights off like how many months?
Ok thank you for all your helpJust until you feel the tank is ready for corals, you don’t have to leave the lights off, it’s not a rule, but as you are getting algae already, why help grow it with the added light.
Even with the lights off you will go through an ugly stage, but it should be far less than with the lights on.
