AliExpress A8SE Reef Light

question for a8 pro or a8 with meanwell power supply. does the power supply use regular removable power supply cord or is the cord non-removable? a taobao seller is stating the cord isn't removable and i need to buy an plug adapter from him. not a huge cost but sounds off. thanks in advance.

You should not have to buy anything, especially a cord. Everything comes in the box

Are you referring to the plug that goes into the wall outlet?
Yes the AC cord is hardwired
IF I remember correctly some of those lights just ship w/ a Chinese end so adapters to local mains is necessary.

Don't remember people charging for it though.

Mine came with a US plug. Buy from the main supplier and they will ship whichever plug you want. Just ask them to customize to your needs.

It says 10 piece minimum on their listing. Will they sell three?

Also for the shipping. Do you recommend express or is the cheaper multimodal ok?

Last question. Does this seller provide the option for the RMS x bracket or does the light come with ang bracket?

Was there tax?

Will be reaching out to them but just wanted to pick your brain really fast.

Thank you

You ask them for 1 or 2. I think they can add brackets. I bought separately. Alibaba will charge tax unless you verify that you are a business. Then you can avoid sales tax.

I find Alibaba is typically cheaper then express.

Has anyone found a vendor for replacement LED boards for the x30 blue+? I found them for the A8's ut not much around for the x30 lights

They are up and wow!!!! very impressed with the lights!!!! I have G6 xr15 lights on my frag tank and I cant tell the difference in how they look. This is 5 of the A8SE on a 200 gallon peninsula tank. I took a thingiverse.com design of a XR30 mount then added standoffs in the design to 3d print perfect mounts for extruded T-slot. If anyone wants the STL file to print these just shoot me a message with your email and ill email the file to you. I took par readings with the PHX14 light setting and all lights 20" off the water with the radion high intensity lens kits and I'm getting 500 par on upper rockwork, 400-450 par at mid rock and 300-350 par at the bottom of the tank. If I turn up all the channels to max then I'm getting over 700 par on top of rockwork so plenty of punch.

thx for the reply. trying to buy from taobao which has the a8pro for about $240usd but seller says it doesn't come with meanwell power supply. if thats the case debating if a8se at $120 is a safer bet, since as roanake said, there might not be a huge diff between chinese vs cree led...argh, too many variables.

I have 3 of the radion g6 xr15 lights without the high intensity lens kits on my frag tank and the spread of the light is insane but the down fall is very bad par numbers. I have to get the lights closer to the water to get the par that I need. I didn't try the A8SE lights without the lens kits I just knew I wanted them. TSA uses these lens kits on all their frag tanks that have radions and it allows the light to be mounted much higher giving more room above the tank for servicing and to see everything from the top down. getting 500 par 20" off the water is awesome! I would imagine the lights would have to be mounted 8-9" off the water to get the same par with the original lens

Did you ever get an answer? I have same question…
No, my marineland rimmed tank is over 1", so that won't work. The Radion Arms will work and they sell those on Aliexpress, but it's a little more expensive vs. hanging the lights.
