AliExpress A8SE Reef Light

Ok ok, I’ve watched your video 👍🏻 I’m currently using 2 radions xr15 g6 blue, 2 hydras 32 hd and my A8 SE, I’m really happy with the my A8 that I’m thinking to sell my hydras to get a pair of A8, how is your tank with these lights? Better color? More growth?

I’ve been running these for a while and in my opinion you can’t get a better light for the price. Sure the ati stratons claim to be the best at $1800 per light but if you spent $1800 worth of A8SE you will get much better spread and par than the stratons. Orphic or reef breeders. The only downside is the app but if you get past that then color and growth on sps is great with these. I’m just running the PHX14 profile then added an hour of run time to it then adjust my intensity. I think the higher red setting of the PHX14 profile looks better on the coral than the AB+ setting. I just took a photo of my tank tonight just before the lights go off (my favorite time to look at the tank with the colors)

Beautiful. Does that mean you're using the Max rather than Blue version? I'm so stuck on which one I want.

Thank you, yes I went with the normal version not the blue. I do have 3 radion g6 blue versions that I originally got for my tank when it was new and they don’t produce as much par as the pro version and the extreme blue does not grow sticks as well IMO

I asked an aliexpress supplier how to replace, or maintenance, the fan. They sent me this video. Anyone done this? Not certain the video contains all the steps :)

Hi, I can’t access this video. Can you post a link, or a title and where I can access it please?

My Radion and recently my A8 felt into the water 😂😂 I disassembled, not a great deal, you need to be very careful with the ribbon cable, and the led cluster, be very gently when handle

So, who can confirm that their A8 lights are silent? I need to know whether the wizzing sound on mine is normal or not before I try and take them apart to find why they make a ‘wurring’ wizzing sound.

I've some news, because I'm able to tell all of you where the temperature reading in the app should be coming from (my new light came in so I could check out the circuit of the led cluster).
Therefore I could conclude that the temperature sensor isn't on the led cluster, but it should be U8 on the main PCB, which means it measures the temperature next to the ESP (the used ESP version doesn't have an build-in temperature sensor). Which type of sensor U8 is exactly, is still unknown, I will have to see if I can find out using an oscilloscope, my current guesses are a one-wire type like ds18b20 or an i2c type.
In the part in the housing where the mainboard is located, there also is no airflow, so the temperature difference won't be as big as on the led cluster or heatsink.
Therefore, in my opinion, the only way to make sure if adding thermal paste works, is measure the temperature of the cluster before and after pasting using an IR thermometer/camera (or stick another temperature sensor on there).

I only have a couple of complaints about these lights (I have the A8 PRO II Max). I have to reboot my router frequently, and the lights don't reconnect unless I power cycle them. Anyone else have this issue or solutions?

Why are you worried about them connecting to the router? Once they're programmed they just run that or do yours not run the program?

They have to be on 2.4ghz connection, and some have said it’s better have this isolated for the lights use only. If you run 5ghz you can usually make a separate 2.4 area. I did it with my Sky router.
You probably know this already.

Thank you! Yes, I'm running them on an IOT separate 2.4 SSID.

My friend's solution is to use a timer socket to make it work for 2 minutes when the electricity goes out and everything will be fine. This is how I solved it.

I’m using an asus router, this is the configuration I’m using, since i did this it has never failed, notice that I’m using wpa/wpa2 probably this has something to do about it

hey, this is really good news and im wondering if you have also the schematic diagram of the led bead board specifically. A8Se Blue cause the technician couldnt find one online and were trying to fix the board cause apparently most of the a8se have manufacturing problems one would be the poor soldering of the led beads thats why some of the channels or leds fail. This would mean a lot if you can make one thank you

Ciao a tutti. Ho acquistato una A8SE Blue. Vorrei convertirla in una A8SE Max. Posso montare un pannello LED A8SE Max su una A8SE Blue? Grazie. Scusate, ma ho tradotto il messaggio perché sono italiano.
