I would confirm that number, 0.012 ppm, and if correct, take the GFO offline. There is no reason to be running GFO if you are at 0.012.

Then just monitor you PO4 level and only put the GFO back online if it starts to get out of control (0.15+).

I expect your montis will reward you with growth.

Ok, so it would appear the number is correct. If you want to still run the reactor (for the carbon), can you reduce the amount of GFO or take it out completely? A bit of a pain to do, but you don't need the reduction it is performing.

Could I turn it off completely, put carbon in a media bag and throw it in the filter cup?

What kind of reactor?

Is it the dual with 2 chambers?
Just leave the GFO side empty and let the water run through it.
Yeah duel with 2 chambers from BRS.

ANd OK, I wasn't sure If I could do that or if it would have any negative side effects

Nope negative, just leave it empty. Ran my dual a long time like that. Then got the mini, and run carbon and GFO in the same canister(I only need 8 tbs of carbon, and like 3 tbs of GFO for my tank 80G).

The mini works for my needs. The dual sits in my garage. As my tank matured, I didn't need to run such large amounts of GFO.

Could I just place it in a media bag and entirely turn off the reactor?

Either way will work.

Haven't used my dual in a few years. Is the carbon side plumbed so the water is pushed down through the media, or is it identical to the GFO side where water is pushed up through the media?

I believe its pushed down through the media on the GFO then up through the carbon then out into the sump

Should be vice versus.

Up through the GFO, so it can tumble, and down through the carbon so it doesn't grind into itself from tumbling.
well I do see the GFO tumbling

I have this, left side I put GFO right side is the carbon
