All For Reef and Phosphate consumption?

I could have sworn i may have seen a thread that folks where having hard time maintaining phosphates levels while dosing A4R.
Could have something mixed up.
Can anyone tell me if and why dosing A4R would be depleting phosphates?

I have always struggled to keep detectable nutrients while dosing AFR.

I am currently coming out of a dino breakout with detectable nutrients. I will try dosing AFR again and see how it affects my nutrients.

The ALK component of AFR is metabolized by bacteria, resulting in a carbon dosing effect and, hence, consuming nutrients. Tropic marine claims that the impact on nutrients is negligible (which is not true so far in my case).

Sure enough man. I actually intentionally overdosed a tank to .1 phosphates recently after a deep clean from 0 phosphate dino outbreak.
Checked first few days all good. Failed to check for 4 days and bam. 0 phosphates and dinos came back.
Having issues keeping detectable phosphate levels in both tanks im dosing A4R atm.

What I DID find is that dosing AFR absolutely feed/help dinos while I was battling them. And the dinos for sure dropped my nitrates to zero. But phosphates have always been elevated in my tank.

I have gone through periods where I stopped using AFR and used kalk instead. I don't notice any difference in nitrates or phosphates. /shrug

10-4 I def have my own little set of challenges going on with this new upgrade tank in trying to keep it like the fully balanced and dialed system it was before the upgrade.
The particular tank im battling dinos ran 0 phosphates for idk how long but most likely since I set it up 2-3 months ago now.
Nitrates high around 40ppm last time I checked. Sure thats not helping my balancing of act getting nutrients stabilized either.

I do no think it likely to have a large effect on phosphate.

It's a weak organic carbon dosing effect, and organic dosing, even large amounts , usually has only a minor impact on phosphate.

Alright thanks Randy. It is most likely due to the deep clean and removal and soaking it back up. Im going to go back to everyday dosing and testing until it settles back in.
