All For Reef - dosing without testing?

I’ve been doing AFR for over a year now, and I overdose it according to Tropic Marin’s info. I also do daily 1% AWC and my dKH is around 7.5ish and my calcium between 420 and 440ppm. The water changes make a big difference! My magnesium does run higher, around 1500ppm if the test kits are to be believed. The tank looks great so I think it’s testing.

"Lazy" = I don't care enough to keep
Am I crazy or anyone else adding A4R without testing? I am just going for consistency versus chasing numbers...at least in theory...

And I guess im lazy, but not at the same time because I am definitely monitoring and reef-keeping daily. I just dont like the idea of chasing numbers. Feel like I read more posts about people messing up their tank trying to hit numbers than my own experience just monitoring the tank and being consistent.

I only have softie and a few LPS. not trying to grow hardcore SPS.

so maybe I dont even worry about a4r and just keep to minimal water changes...

Maybe don't keep living things if you aren't willing to do what it takes to keep them alive? The "chasing numbers" is used by lazy people to justify not monitoring the health of their tank or by people who like to gamble with living things. In reality, you keep numbers in a healthy range, and stick to that. Sorry if this sounds pretty direct to the point, but the amount of animals that die in this hobby because of laziness is sickening.
