so I have had this piece for almost 3 days now and I feel like it is not extending the polyps all the way.

What would cause this?

It’s in a low flow area receiving a max of 250 par for 4 hours.

Give it time. It needs this time to acclimate to your system and your parameters. If it begins to contract regularly and stays that way then move it around to find its happy place. It doesn't look too retracted to me but it's always hard to tell in photos without reference.

That’s fair. I know a few months back I tried to keep some goniopora and failed miserable. I figured give it some time and try again fast forward to now and I decided to go with alveopora because I’ve been told it can be a bit easier to keep.

The polyps are about 1/2” in long currently. They were quite a bit longer at the place where I purchased it.

It’s already doing better than the Goni I had. So there that at least.
