Am I doing this right??

Ok so I just got this Top Fin Premium 5 gallon glass aquarium. Didn’t add anything (equipment) to it kept everything as is. I started cycling today added Dr.Tims one and only and a pinch of fish food. Is there anything else I need to do? Tank is still cloudy from adding water in it. But just making sure I’m good. It’s been a while since I’ve had a tank and my last one I kind of rushed the cycling and with this one want to do it right. If anyone has any feedback back please let me know.

Was the rock dirty, could it be crud leaching out of the rock? Did you rinse before using? In this case a filter pad or some type of mechanical filtration can help.

Otherwise it kind of looks like a bacteria bloom which is not unusual for new cycling tanks, this is just an imballance of bacteria's that sort themselves out after a week or two, no need to do anything just let it do its thing

The rock was from Caribsea. From what I remember no dirt on them also didn't rinse. And some stuff i was reading said to take the filter pad out for cycling was confused on that one.

Filter pads will help catch particles in the water. Did you rinse the sand well? This usually happens with sand.
